What is Penyagolosa a l'Escola?

At FUGA Penyagolosa Trails, we believe that sport is far more than a competition. It is a vehicle to educate, discover our land, and transmit values that last a lifetime.

Penyagolosa a l'Escola was created with this philosophy on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Marató i Mitja, bringing trail running, nature, and the heritage of Penyagolosa directly into primary schools across the province of Castellón.

Each year the project engages close to 600 children and runs throughout the entire academic year with a cross-cutting, multidisciplinary approach. Through subjects such as Physical Education, Environmental Science, Arts, Music, Language, and Mathematics, pupils discover their region and nurture values such as dedication, camaraderie, perseverance, and environmental respect.

The experience culminates during FUGA Penyagolosa Trails week with a dedicated event at Universitat Jaume I, where participants put their learning into practice through age-appropriate trail races. For many, it represents their very first experience in a sporting event and the spark of a lasting connection that may guide them to become future runners, volunteers, or passionate supporters of FUGA Penyagolosa Trails.
