Castelló de la Plana, July 12, 2026 – FUGA Penyagolosa Trails already has a date to mark in red on the international trail running calendar. The iconic event of the province of Castellón will return on April 24, 2027, a date carrying profound historical meaning for the race and its participants: exactly 28 years will have passed, falling on the very same day and month, since the start of the first edition of the MiM was given back in 1999.
The announcement was made this Sunday through the release of a video across the organization's official channels, highlighting the race's deep connection with the ancestral paths that link Castelló to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa. The audiovisual piece features speeches by the President of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, and race director, Tico Cervera.
The President of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, emphasized: “With the date announcement for the upcoming edition, we kick off the countdown for a sporting event that is so much more than a race. FUGA Penyagolosa Trails is the ultimate expression of sport in our province and further proof that Castellón is the finest sporting arena. It is a competition that not only unites passions, but unites an entire province, its municipalities, and local residents who take to the streets to support and cheer on every runner.”
For his part, race director Tico Cervera noted: “Giving the starting signal once again on April 24 is a beautiful tribute to our roots. Exactly 28 years will have gone by since that inaugural start of the MiM in 1999, but the passion with which we organize the event and our reverence for the trails leading us to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa remain precisely the same as on day one.”
The 2027 edition will mark the 28th running of the MiM and the 15th running of the CSP, the two distances comprising the event and holding their distinguished place in the trail running calendar.
In the coming months, the organization will disclose the official schedule for pre-registration opening and the subsequent bib draw.
