ECODEPOR

ECODEPOR is a scientific research project that analyzes and quantifies the environmental impact of sporting events in natural spaces, with the objective of developing tools for more sustainable management.

ECODEPOR

Environmental conservation is one of the pillars of FUGA Penyagolosa Trails. In keeping with this commitment, the event participates in ECODEPOR, a research project that investigates the impact of sporting activities on biodiversity and natural ecosystems.

Spearheaded by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC), the project investigates diverse environmental indicators in natural areas where athletic competitions are held, aiming to generate scientific knowledge to minimize their impact.

The resulting data enables the formulation of evidence-based recommendations to improve the organization of sporting events in protected natural spaces.

The generated knowledge helps design more effective conservation measures and fosters steady progress toward an increasingly eco-respectful race model.
