FUGA Penyagolosa Trails announces its date for 2027: it will be April 24, exactly 28 years after the first legendary Marató i Mitja (MiM)

The race will be held on April 24 2027, coinciding in day and month with the first edition of the flagship event, held in 1999

 

Castelló de la Plana, July 12, 2026 – FUGA Penyagolosa Trails now has a date to mark in red on the international trail running calendar. The iconic race of the Castelló province will return on April 24, 2027, a date that holds deep historical significance for the race and its participants: it will be exactly 28 years to the day since the start of the first edition of the MiM in 1999.

The announcement was made this Sunday through the publication of a video on the organization’s official channels, reviewing the race’s link to the paths that connect Castelló with Sant Joan de Penyagolosa. The audiovisual piece features contributions from the President of the Castelló Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, and the race director, Tico Cervera.

The President of the Castelló Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, highlighted: “With the announcement of the date for the next edition, we are starting the countdown to a sporting event that is much more than a race. FUGA Penyagolosa Trails is the ultimate expression of sport in our province and further proof that Castellón is the best sports setting. It is a race that not only unites passions, but also unites a province, municipalities, and neighbors who come out to the streets to accompany and cheer on the runners.”

For his part, Tico Cervera, the race director, noted: “Returning to the starting line on April 24 is a beautiful nod to our origins. It will have been exactly 28 years since that first MiM start in 1999, but the enthusiasm with which we prepare the race and the respect for the paths that lead us to Sant Joan de Penyagolosa remain exactly the same as on the first day.”

The 2027 event will mark the celebration of the 28th edition of the MiM and the 15th edition of the CSP, the two distances that make up the event and maintain their regular presence on the trail running calendar.

In the coming months, the organization will reveal the official deadlines for the opening of pre-registrations and the date of the subsequent bib lottery.
